KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid — In Life and Investing

We love to complicate things. Humans take the scenic route to stress, confusion, and bad decisions, then call it “being thorough.” But the truth is brutally simple: the more you give people to remember, the less they remember. And the more complex you make anything — your money, your career, your relationships — the higher the chance you’ll screw it up.

That’s why I live by KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

I say that lovingly. Most of us — myself included — create our own chaos. We pile on obligations, say yes to everything, chase shiny objects, and think complexity must equal intelligence. Spoiler: it doesn’t. Complexity is usually a mask for insecurity. Simplicity is confidence.

The Simple Stuff Actually Works

Look at your life. Think of the moments when you were the happiest, most productive, most at peace. They were simple, weren’t they? A clear plan. A clear goal. A clear path.

And on the flip side? The biggest messes in your life didn’t come from a lack of brilliance. They came from too many moving pieces — too many apps, too many accounts, too many subscriptions, too many commitments, too many stories running in your head at once.

Simplicity isn’t sexy. But it’s undefeated.

When you remove complexity, you regain control. You get traction. You actually finish things instead of drowning in half-started projects.

KISS for Money: Keep Investing Simple, Stupid

This is where I get fired up.

Because investing has become a circus — 10,000 TikTok gurus, 1,000 newsletters, 500 ETFs, crypto influencers in Lambos, Wall Street jargon that makes normal people feel dumb, and a new “secret strategy” every week.

No wonder people don’t invest. They’re overwhelmed.

But here’s the truth you’ll never hear on CNBC:
The easiest strategies usually outperform the complicated ones over time.

S&P 500 index.
Dividend ETF.
Simple automatic weekly contributions.
401(k) match.
Letting compounding do its thing.

That’s it.

KISS also stands for Keep Investing Simple, Stupid.

You don’t need options trading.
You don’t need to memorize charts.
You don’t need “10 passive income streams by Friday.”
You just need to get out of your own way and let the system work.

Simple wins. Always has.

KISS in Your Career

The same rule applies.

People build five-page resumes, rehearse robotic interview answers, chase job titles like Pokémon cards, and forget the three simple things that actually get them hired:

  • Be likable
  • Be reliable
  • Make people glad they chose you

Nobody got promoted because their resume had more bullet points. They got promoted because people trusted them.

Again — simple.

KISS in Life

Your relationships, your habits, your routines… simplicity improves all of them.

Eat real food.
Move your body.
Sleep.
Surround yourself with good people.
Remove the toxic ones.
Spend less than you make.
Invest the difference.
Repeat.

Everything else is noise.

The Bottom Line

If your life feels complicated, it’s not the world. It’s your decisions.

KISS isn’t an insult — it’s a roadmap:
Simplify everything you can, and you’ll create the space to build the life you actually want.

Simple isn’t boring.
Simple is powerful.
Simple scales.
Simple compounds.

KISS — in life, in money, in everything.
